DESCRIPTION:Join the 91探花平台 Philosophy Department for this next event in their Great Conversation series.  \n\n\n\nDr. Alejandro Hortal\, from the Dept of Languages\, Literatures & Cultures\, facilitates this conversation exploring the ongoing debate over the nature of human rationality and the implications for understanding behavior.  \n\n\n\nAre our decisions systematically flawed\, or are they contextually adaptive? Competing views from psychology\, economics\, and philosophy offer conflicting interpretations of what counts as rational behavior鈥攁nd why it matters.  \n\n\n\nThese 鈥渞ationality wars鈥� raise critical questions about autonomy\, error\, and the legitimacy of interventions designed to correct our choices. He has used his MA in Communication from Syracuse University to translate his passion for connecting people into a lucrative career designing podcasts and newsletters to promote Chicago events\, businesses\, and creative partnerships. A celebrated storyteller and national champion public speaker\, Jacoby received the 2024 Uplifting Voices Award at the 29th Annual Chicago Community Media Awards.聽聽 \n\n\n\nWith music and conversation support from In the Beat of the Night\, join us for a unique night of storytelling. \n\n\n\nPrez\, J Lone\, and Kilmatic make up the backbone of In the Beat of the Night. Starting in 2006 as a hip-hop show on 91探花平台鈥檚 own WUAG\, ITBOTN has grown from Greensboro鈥檚 longest-running radio show into a live platform to support local musicians and share their stories. Using their skills as both DJs and master interviewers\, the ITBOTN crew commits to showcasing local talent 鈥� and keeping us entertained along the way.聽

DESCRIPTION:It鈥檚 one thing to tell your own story 鈥� it鈥檚 something else to create a space that helps other people tell their stories. \n\n\n\nFollowing the October 1 Harriet Elliott Lecture Series Keynote Event\, this workshop will give students and community members a chance to engage with our guest 鈥� Jacoby Cochran\, and our community partners 鈥� In the Beat of the Night\, in a more interactive conversation. 聽We聽will discuss various online and community-based platforms\, as well as techniques for interviewing 鈥� with the goal of showing how our combined stories create the kinds of connections that build strong communities.. 聽 \n\n\n\nLocation: Elliott University Center (EUC) Kirkland Suite \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Harriet Elliott Lecture Series (HELS) is an annual event organized by the College of Arts & Sciences.
